The Social Care Administration of Borås Municipality is responsible for the municipality's disability services, social psychiatry, and healthcare services for these target groups. With approximately 1,000 employees and 45 managers, we work continuously to improve the quality of our services for those we serve. About the Position The Social Care Administration is offering an hourly position where you have a unique opportunity to make a difference in another person's life! We are now seeking an hourly personal assistant for a man with autism who communicates through sign language. The assignment is to, based on the person's needs, provide support and create conditions for a meaningful and as independent life as possible. The user's home is your workplace, which is located in an area outside Borås. It would be helpful if you can get there with your own car, since bus schedules don't fully align with work hours. Currently, work hours are daytime 9-17, alternating weeks Monday through Thursday and alternating weeks Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Work hours may vary in the future with potentially shorter shifts, depending on the user's other activities. Work in the evenings and weekends may also be relevant in the future. The duration of the position is determined by the necessary decisions made regarding the user's services, as well as whether you and the user work well together. Work Tasks In your work as a personal assistant, you will help ensure that the person you support has a meaningful daily life characterized by participation. This is so the person can live a fulfilling life despite their disability. Work tasks are varied and include things that occur in a home as well as providing support with personal care and activities. You will primarily provide support in the person's daily activities, such as walks, leisure interests, swimming, and computer use. You communicate in sign language and provide support to the user to engage with various social matters. You need to be attentive to the person's needs and ready for work that requires great personal commitment. Social documentation is also part of the work tasks. The work involves a lot of physical activity since the person enjoys being outdoors and is active. This assistance assignment involves solo staffing, which means you will work independently. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has upper secondary education from a care and nursing program, children and leisure program, or equivalent education. In this position, it is a requirement that you can communicate fluently in sign language and have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Sign language as a support is not sufficient for this position. It is an advantage if you have experience working in care and nursing, experience working with people who have autism, and knowledge of low-arousal approaches. As a person, you are cheerful, responsible, and attentive to people's different needs. You have good communication skills and are pedagogical in your approach. The work involves independent responsibility, so you need to feel confident in yourself and your professional role. Since the work tasks are physically demanding due to frequent walking, it is an advantage if you are in good physical condition. We value that you are flexible, solution-focused, and can adapt to the situation. It is also positive if you are playful and creative in your way of working.
