We are now seeking an experienced patent engineer who wants to be part of our patent office serving the Swedish defense authorities. With us, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects in a small and experienced team with a focus on patent matters. About the Position Within FMV, there is a joint patent office for the defense authorities responsible for managing inventions by defense employees and other intellectual property-protected work performances. This includes applications for patent, design, and trademark protection both in Sweden and abroad, as well as handling related matters such as monitoring, oppositions, and investigations of infringement. We also handle copyright matters and issues related to defense invention secrecy. We represent our clients before Swedish and foreign authorities on matters of patents, designs, and trademarks, such as PRV, EPO, WIPO, and EUIPO, and collaborate with local representatives in other countries. We also contribute our expertise to various innovation-promoting projects driven by defense authorities. As a patent engineer with us, you will become part of a small group working broadly with intellectual property. You will independently, but in close collaboration with colleagues, handle patent matters. Your work tasks include, among other things, environmental monitoring, news reviews, patentability assessments, handling of and questions concerning the right to employee inventions, preparation of patent applications, and responding to directives, decisions, and consultations from authorities, both in Sweden and internationally. Additionally, you will participate in informing and educating operations within FMV and other defense authorities on matters related to patents and intellectual property. You will also handle copyright matters, applications for trademark and design protection, and oppositions against others' trademarks. The position is located in Stockholm. About You We are looking for someone with a degree in engineering or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways that we assess as equivalent. You have knowledge of intellectual property and patent law and have several years of experience working as a patent engineer at an industrial patent department, patent firm, or patent office with experience in quickly familiarizing yourself with new technical fields. The position also requires that you have a strong ability to express yourself both in writing and orally in Swedish and English. It is meritorious if you are an authorized patent representative before the EPO; if not, we would like to see your ambition to become one. It is also an advantage, though not a requirement, if you have knowledge of German and French. Personal qualities are of great importance to us.
