Upplands-Bro Municipality is now seeking a Parks and Streets Manager who wants to contribute to shaping and maintaining our beautiful public spaces for residents, visitors, and businesses. You have strong commitment to these important issues and the ability to move between operational, strategic, and long-term matters.
Job Description
As Parks and Streets Manager, you have overall responsibility for the operation's personnel, budget, and work environment. You lead a team of five employees and are responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted efficiently, with high quality, and in line with established goals.
In this role, you are responsible for the municipality's parks, green spaces, streets, and squares. Operations are primarily conducted as a client organization, meaning that work is largely performed by contracted entrepreneurs and suppliers. At the same time, there is well-developed collaboration with the municipality's labor market unit and water/sanitation operations for portions of maintenance conducted in-house.
You ensure that assignments are ordered, led, followed up, and developed in a structured and professional manner, with a focus on quality, economy, and goal achievement. The role is both strategic and operational and involves close collaboration with other departments, political leadership, entrepreneurs, and residents.
You are part of the technical department's management group within the community development office. The management group consists, in addition to the department head, of a waste management manager, water/sanitation manager, and surveying and GIS manager. Together, you are responsible for the strategic development of operations and report to the technical committee.
Your main responsibilities:
Personnel, budget, and work environment responsibility
Overall responsibility for maintenance and development of the municipality's parks, green spaces, swimming areas, streets, and squares
Lead and develop operations and the team functioning as a client organization. As an agent, you will be responsible for planning, ordering, and following up on operations, maintenance, and investments through contracted entrepreneurs and suppliers
Ensure clear requirements, contract compliance, and high-quality deliverables
Collaboration with other municipal operations and external stakeholders
Preparation, presentation, and implementation of decisions from the committee and political leadership
Contribute to achieving the municipality's goals within traffic safety, accessibility, traffic flow, and climate adaptation
We are looking for someone with:
Relevant higher education or university degree in, for example, community planning, landscape architecture, road/traffic engineering, or equivalent as assessed by the employer as equivalent
Several years of experience in a management or leadership role within parks, streets, or similar technical operations
Good experience working in a client organization
Knowledge of contract law
Good familiarity with procurement and contract monitoring processes within agreements for technical management and/or grounds contracting
Good understanding of municipal operations, finance, and political decision-making processes
Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written
Category B driver's license
You are a confident and clear leader who is experienced at setting requirements while building good relationships. You work in a structured manner, are analytical, and have the ability to follow up on results, finances, and quality. You enjoy working both strategically and close to operations.

This is a permanent position. A probationary period may be applied. Start date by agreement.
