The Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum Reg. No. 90000053011 invites applications for Head of Architecture and Restoration Department (Professional classification code 1213 05) Full-time position, indefinite duration Responsibilities: Participate in the development of the museum's policies, strategies, annual work plans, and reports in the field of architecture and restoration work; provide suggestions for ensuring the museum's operations and development; Conduct inspection and documentation of the museum's collections and historic structures, determine which exhibits require restoration and which methodology to use, prepare appropriate technical specifications for procurements, contracts, and other documentation; Address ethnographic and non-standard project development, develop complex solutions at the scale of architecture and territory, develop architectural concepts, spatial development solutions, and proposals for preserving and integrating cultural-historical environments into modern museum infrastructure; Monitor compliance with construction projects and building standards, evaluate the quality of design documentation, the appropriateness of architectural solutions to cultural monument preservation principles, regulatory acts, and Museum development needs; Conduct inspections of buildings, structures, and engineering communications, determine their technical condition, prepare technical opinions, defect reports and estimates, as well as prepare materials for architectural and artistic inventorying, building surveys, and updates to technical documentation; Provide suggestions and calculations for territory planning, improvement, and economic activities; evaluate the impact of architectural and landscape solutions on the Museum's cultural-historical environment and exhibition quality; Prepare suggestions for the Museum's territorial functional zoning, built-up area development, infrastructure improvements, landscape and cultural-historical environment preservation and development, establishing architecture quality criteria and territorial development guidelines; Ensure the preservation and integrity of objects' historical, stylistic, aesthetic, and technical information regarding their production time and method; Control and coordinate the quality and schedule compliance of services provided by engaged external service providers; Organize and coordinate the Museum's participation in territorial planning, local planning, detailed planning, thematic planning, and other spatial development planning documentation development and coordination processes; Evaluate the impact of regulatory acts, development planning documents, and investment projects on the Museum's territorial development and prepare opinions, suggestions, and recommendations; Ensure the performance of the museum's critical functions during emergency situations; Organize and coordinate architectural research, surveying, and documentation of the Museum's buildings, structures, and territory, ensuring information relevance and accumulation; Ensure preparation of design specifications, coordinate the design process, and participate in coordination of design solutions; Perform author supervision functions or coordinate their performance in the Museum's construction, restoration, and territorial development projects in the manner prescribed by regulatory acts; Prepare technical conditions, methodological guidelines, and recommendations in the architecture and restoration field for the Museum's structural units; Participate in the work of commissions for construction intentions, goals competitions, design and restoration procurements, providing professional architectural expertise; Coordinate the accumulation and maintenance of digital architecture documentation, building surveys, drawings, photographic records, and other data related to cultural heritage preservation; Evaluate possibilities for integrating energy efficiency, environmental accessibility, and sustainable construction solutions in the Museum's buildings and territory while ensuring the preservation of cultural-historical values. Requirements for candidates: Higher education in architecture or civil engineering; Experience in an equivalent position for more than 3 years; Knowledge of Latvian history, architecture, and restoration; Ability to plan, manage, and independently perform architectural work in accordance with the regulatory acts of the Republic of Latvia, European Union legal norms, and international Conventions in the field of cultural heritage preservation and restoration; Ability to implement cultural value protection and preservation measures; Ability to collaborate and work with people of various ages and organize team work; Ability to present to audiences, including formulating and expressing your opinion, preparing and delivering presentations; Ability to organize and plan work, take initiative and responsibility; Knowledge in the field of cultural value conservation and restoration; Command of the state language (highest level); Foreign language proficiency (English, German, or other languages) – speaking, reading, writing (foreign language proficiency is necessary to ensure effective cooperation with foreign experts, international partners and institutions, as well as to use professional literature, regulatory documents, and restoration industry best practices in an international environment); Ability to work with computers (MS Office programs) and other information tools; Organizational, communication, and cooperation skills.
