MINISTRY OF SMART ADMINISTRATION AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT announces a competition for the position of HEAD OF THE REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING DIVISION of the State Sustainable Development Planning Department (state civil service position) ABOUT US The Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development is the leading state administration institution in the fields of regional development planning and coordination, local government development and supervision, territorial development planning and land management, implementation of the single window principle in the accessibility of state and local government services, as well as e-governance, digital transformation in state administration, and nature protection. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: plan, organize, and manage the division's work, ensuring the achievement of set objectives and tasks; develop regional policy and coordinate its implementation, including implementing regional development support measures. WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE: higher education in social sciences (preferably in political science or economics), complemented by knowledge in regional development and European Union matters; professional experience in regional development planning, implementation, or an equivalent field; good knowledge of Latvia's and the European Union's regional policy; understanding of the principles of state administration and local government operations, as well as experience in developing policy planning documents and other strategic documents; knowledge and experience in European Union cohesion policy planning or implementation; experience in a leadership position, preferably in a state direct administration institution or local government; experience in representing state interests in international organizations or institutions; ability to direct work toward the achievement of set objectives; ability to make decisions and take responsibility; ability to motivate, develop, and professionally manage a team, promoting employee growth and engagement; developed planning and work organization skills, as well as high professional ethics; good English language skills (the performance of job duties involves working with documents in English, participation in international working groups, communication with international organizations); compliance with the requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law.
