Western Hospitals is a division within Västra Götalandsregionen and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås lasarett, Angereds närsjukhus, Högsbo närsjukhus, and Kungälvs sjukhus. Kungälvs sjukhus Kungälvs sjukhus provides acute and planned specialist healthcare around the clock within several specialties. The hospital features newly built modern care units that were opened in spring 2020. It has over 200 physical care beds for somatic and psychiatric inpatient care where all patients can be offered private rooms. The hospital also operates outpatient clinics and a 24-hour emergency department. Kungälvs sjukhus is one of Västra Götalandsregionen's trauma-receiving hospitals. Department Description The Anesthesia, Operating Room, and Intensive Care division is responsible for 24-hour care at the Operating and Intensive Care units at Alingsås lasarett and Kungälvs sjukhus, as well as day surgery operations at Angereds närsjukhus and Högsbo närsjukhus. The ICU and operating unit at Kungälvs sjukhus have approximately 200 employees. The Intensive Care Unit provides care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, invasive circulatory monitoring, dialysis, and extensive postoperative care. The ICU is currently staffed for five intensive care patients plus three intermediate care beds and inpatient postoperative patients. Adjacent to the ICU is a separate postoperative day surgery recovery unit. The operating unit in Kungälv performs procedures in general surgery, orthopedics, and urology. The operations are diverse, making work rewarding and stimulating. We perform everything from simple day surgery procedures to acute and planned extensive surgery. Our division maintains a strong educational environment where we emphasize mentoring and skills development. We currently have 5 resident physicians, along with rotating colleagues from other specialties and junior physicians. Our expertise in point-of-care ultrasound is high and there are excellent opportunities to develop or expand this area of practice. On-call duties are arranged based on individual preferences, giving you considerable flexibility in scheduling. Western Hospitals also manages operating room and intensive care operations at Alingsås lasarett and day surgery operations at Angereds närsjukhus and Högsbo närsjukhus. We perform operations on both children and adults in multiple areas (including Gynecology, Urology, Otolaryngology, Port-a-Cath procedures, Plastic Surgery, and Ophthalmology) both independently and in collaboration with Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset. We are open to the possibility of you working at more than one facility. Responsibilities Typical duties of a senior physician in anesthesia and intensive care. The role includes service in both operating room and intensive care units. We staff both a primary and backup on-call line, with the senior physician position focusing primarily on backup coverage. Active participation in education and operational development is expected. Qualifications We are looking for a colleague who will contribute with their own strengths and complement our physician group of over 20 colleagues. You are flexible, have strong collaborative skills, high competence, and professional humility. We are seeking someone with Swedish certification in specialist competency in anesthesia and intensive care, and proficiency in Swedish at minimum level C1. You have broad experience in the specialty and at least five years of clinical experience as a specialist. We expect an interest in teamwork and commitment to operational development.
