Operator/Coordinator - Railroad Incident Response

Working with coordinating incident response means being at the center of events at our Traffic Control Center. Together with your colleagues at the Traffic Control Center, you play an important role in ensuring that people and goods move safely and on time. In our operations, you will be called a Railroad Operations Technician and are responsible for monitoring the railroad's technical systems around the clock and handling incoming alarms. Working as a Railroad Operations Technician involves, among other things: Receiving incoming alarms via various technical systems and telephone Alerting and coordinating contractors for incident response on the railroad Collaborating with, for example, emergency services, police, and other contacts at the Swedish Transport Administration Maintaining contact with various external parties during accidents and incidents Documenting incidents in our technical systems Monitoring via surveillance cameras Qualifications Who is a good fit for this role? We're looking for a service-oriented team player who listens and adapts their communication to ensure a shared situational awareness. The role demands high safety awareness, which for us means you understand risks and consequences and carefully follow regulations in your work. You act professionally and trustworthily in all interactions and are responsible and methodical. You are confident working independently and making decisions even under pressure. With good adaptability, you maintain calm and focus both in high-pressure situations and during quieter periods at work. To become a Railroad Operations Technician, you must have: Completed upper secondary education Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish Interest and ability to work shifts (day, evening, weekend, night, and public holidays) It is an advantage but not a requirement if you have: Good ability to communicate verbally by telephone Good computer skills and experience working with digital tools Experience working with rapid pace changes Experience working in a role where following routines and regulations has been important Experience in work where safety has been in focus Additional Information Shift Work All Railroad Operations Technicians work alternating shifts during day, evening, night, weekends, and public holidays according to a rotating schedule. It is important that you consider your ability to work shifts before submitting your application. Basic Training This is an important role for the Swedish Transport Administration, and we invest in you with internal training at the Transport Administration School in Ängelholm combined with practical experience at your local Traffic Control Center. You don't need to have any prior knowledge of railroads. The training, starting in January, takes on average 6 months, with a total of approximately 5 weeks held in Ängelholm (with mandatory attendance and overnight accommodation). Travel to other locations may also occur. You will start with a 6-month probationary employment that transitions to a permanent position, provided everything goes well. About the Recruitment Process Several elements of the recruitment process will require your physical presence as a candidate, which means that in certain recruitment stages you will need to take time off from your current job or studies to continue participating in the recruitment process. Recruitment day, which includes work tests and work-related exercises, will be held in Stockholm during week 38. Individual psychological assessment will be conducted digitally during weeks 39-40. Final interviews are scheduled to be conducted digitally during weeks 40-41. Railroad Operations Technician is a safety-critical role, and to be employed you must meet certain security and health requirements.
