EcoDataCenter is building one of Sweden's new mega data centers in Borlänge and the organization to operate it. We are now looking for an Operations Technician who wants to be part of it from the start and ensure stable, secure, and structured operations 24/7. This is a rare opportunity to not only work within the structure, but to help create it. This is a shift position with 12-hour shifts, which means approximately 12–13 shifts per month distributed across weekdays, weekends, and nights. About the role You have a central role in ensuring the daily operations of the facility, in an environment where quick decisions, correct priorities, and strict adherence to procedures are critical. You move between systems and the facility, and need to be able to go from calm monitoring to handling an incident in a controlled manner. Much of the work is preparatory and administrative – approximately 70% of the time involves creating work preparations, MOPs (Method of Procedure), administering work orders in MaintMaster (our maintenance system) and coordinating with contractors and customers. The rest is practical work in the facility, but it can come in waves. You analyze deviations and events - what happened, make an assessment – do we need to act now or can it be planned? – create a work order, develop a MOP, present it for approval and coordinate execution with the right resources. The customer must be informed, the contractor received and you follow up that the work is performed according to procedures. You work as a generalist with broad technical understanding, from cooling machines and pumps to error codes in switchgear and PME systems. You don't need to be a deep expert in everything, but you need to understand what's happening in the systems, locate faults and make the right decisions within your mandate. You are coming in at an early stage in Borlänge where much is still being built, MaintMaster is to be established, procedures adapted and working methods set. Your main responsibilities Monitor the facility and manage alarms via BMS, PME and other systems Conduct rounds and identify deviations in the operational environment Create and manage work orders in MaintMaster Develop work preparations and MOPs for planned work Coordinate contractors and ensure that work is performed according to procedures and safety requirements Participate in incident management and implement measures according to SOP and EOP Ensure correct documentation and clear shift handovers Contribute to developing procedures, working methods and structure in the operation Who are you? You have experience from technical operations or process monitoring and are used to working in environments where operations are critical. You are confident in making decisions even when all information is not immediately available, and have the ability to quickly determine what requires action and what can be planned. You thrive in a role where you combine practical work with analysis, planning and documentation – and you understand that a large part of the job is about structure, not just being out in operations. You are curious and analytical. You actively look for deviations before they become problems, question when something doesn't add up and understand what's happening in the systems around you. As a person you are self-driven, straightforward and confident in yourself. You dare to step forward, contact the right people and make decisions within your mandate – but you are also humble about working in an environment where errors can have major consequences. We welcome you who come from process industry, wind power, nuclear power, mechanical environments or other technical operations with process monitoring – data center is an environment you will learn with us. Qualifications Technical education or equivalent work experience Several years of experience from technical operations or maintenance environment with elements of process monitoring Experience of working structured with planning, follow-up and documentation Broad technical understanding in one or more of: cooling systems, mechanics/automation, HVAC/heating or process Good computer skills and experience working with technical systems Very good skills in Swedish and English, spoken and written Meritorious Experience from data centers, process industry, nuclear power, energy or other critical operational environment Experience with cooling systems - This is particularly meritorious Experience with maintenance systems (e.g., MaintMaster) or BMS/PME Experience working with SOP, MOP or EOP Experience coordinating contractors Other information You report to the Maintenance Operations Manager. The position is a permanent employment with a 6-month probationary period. Placement on site in Borlänge. As part of the recruitment process, we conduct background checks for final candidates.
