Your Responsibilities
As an Area Director, you have overall operational responsibility for Berzelius High School, which offers the technology program, natural sciences program, introductory program, and adapted upper secondary education. You are also the direct supervisor for the area's principals. You are responsible for supporting and coaching principals and following up on the area's results regarding quality, goal achievement, staffing, and finances. Together with the area's principals, you conduct development and change work aimed at achieving higher goal attainment and being at the forefront within your field of operation.
Your assignment also includes actively contributing to the department's overall development, representing the department as a whole internally and externally, and promoting openness, communication, and collaboration. You have an important role in the department's management group through management, leadership, planning, coordination, and follow-up regarding the department's operations. You also ensure that operations are conducted within budget and your assignment is evaluated based on finances, personnel, operations, and leadership. You report directly to the department director.
Your Workplace
The Education Administration is responsible for Linköping Municipality's operations in preschool, primary school, upper secondary school, and adult education. The position is placed under the Upper Secondary and Adult Education Department, where Berzelius High School is one of six municipal upper secondary schools.
You will be part of the management group for the Upper Secondary and Adult Education Department, which jointly drives strategic development work and is responsible for leadership and coordination between the department's operations and resources.
About You
We are looking for someone with a pedagogical degree from a university college and completed state principal training. You have work experience as a school leader in upper secondary school, and it is a merit if you have experience leading managers and leading processes. We appreciate it if you have worked in a politically governed organization.
Good Swedish in speech and writing is necessary to communicate messages in the organization and the ability to document. Furthermore, you are familiar with the school's curriculum and other governing documents.
As a leader, you are secure in your professional role and have good pedagogical insight, placing students' needs and goals in focus. Through present leadership, you develop engagement, competence, and creativity among your colleagues and in the municipality for the better. Collaboration with others is self-evident to you. You relate attentively to others and have the ability to resolve conflicts constructively. You have the courage to think and do things differently and see opportunities in change. You work toward goals and are guided by goal and results thinking in your daily priorities, planning, and actions. Finally, you have a realistic belief in your own ability and possess the ability to analyze and break down problems into their components to solve them.
