Maritime Geography Business Area The Swedish Maritime Administration's operational activities consist of a business division divided into six areas. For the Maritime Geography business area, we are now seeking a GIS Object Specialist to work with development and management of the business area's IT support. The main work areas within the Maritime Geography Business Area are to conduct hydrographic surveys of Swedish waters and to update and maintain the maritime geographic databases. From these databases, maritime geographic products and services are provided. The products primarily produced are nautical charts, both digital and traditional paper nautical charts, intended for navigation at sea. The operations include an expansion where many new maritime geographic products and services are under development for both civilian and military purposes. Working as an Object Specialist at the Swedish Maritime Administration In your role as Object Specialist, you will organizationally be attached to the Systems Unit, which is a support unit within the Maritime Geography business area consisting of 12 dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues. In the systems unit, we primarily work with systems management, project management and expert competence. As an Object Specialist, you work together with other Object Specialists to ensure that the object's various IT support systems are secure, accessible and relevant for line operations. The work follows an annual object plan and is led by the Object Manager. With us, you will to a large extent work with configuration and change management of the IT systems used for nautical chart production. Your day-to-day work offers variety and will consist of many different parallel tasks and exciting development projects. You will have the opportunity to work both close to operations with our end users and with IT specialists within the organization, as well as in close cooperation with external supplier contacts. Who are you? We are looking for someone with at least three years of higher education in Geomatics, GIS Engineering, Systems Science or Computer Science with a clear focus on geographic IT. You have several years of work experience in which you have worked with geographic databases and have good knowledge of GIS tools, such as ArcGIS, HPD or FME. It is meritorious if you have work experience in GIS development, systems management or programming. It is also meritorious if you have experience working with maritime geographic information, map production or cartography automation. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You are self-driven and move your work tasks forward with great responsibility, commitment and structure. Providing service and being proactive in your communication comes naturally to you. You work well with others and have an open and friendly manner. You are attentive and have a good ability to identify needs and translate them into improvement measures that you present and coordinate with users. You have the ability to work on several complex tasks in parallel and can easily adapt to changed circumstances. You express yourself easily in Swedish in both speech and writing.
