Nature Guide with Development Responsibility at Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap
Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap was established in 2004 with a mission to protect, preserve, restore, and develop natural and cultural environments while promoting active outdoor recreation. Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap manages over 11,000 hectares of forest and other land across a large part of Scania. We conduct forestry and care for the open landscape while preserving and improving conditions for biodiversity. We manage our forests with recreation in mind and implement measures that benefit the climate. We have a mandate from Region Scania to manage and coordinate recreational trails. We also have a mandate from Region Scania to make our land accessible to visitors. We do this primarily through our 19 hiking areas throughout Scania. Here we offer trails of various types with varying levels of service. "Nature for All" is our vision and means we want to attract more visitors to nature. Outdoor activities and physical exercise in our areas are a way to improve public health, and the public health perspective is particularly important to us. Research shows that people benefit from spending time in nature. Those who have a natural relationship with nature also typically feel greater commitment to our environment. Therefore, we want to inspire more people to venture into Scanian nature. Outdoor pedagogy is a pedagogical approach that aims at interaction between experience and reflection based on nature experiences. It builds on what exists at the location—what you see and experience yourself and together with others. Learning is experience-based and relationship-building with nature. One of our largest projects is Fifth Graders on Scåneleden. It is funded by Region Scania and contributes to the Regional Development Board's goal of "Better Health for More" and offers schools a day in nature to improve the physical and mental health of children and young people. Through this initiative, we create a foundation for good living and nature habits as adults, and the long-term effects and societal benefits are expected to lead to future savings through improved public health. During a day on Scåneleden, students experience Scanian nature and learn about the landscape, everyman's right, outdoor life, and nature as physical activity. During the day, students learn to build and make fire, which also involves some form of outdoor cooking or heating water over an open fire or on a camp stove. At lunch, we offer embers for grilling. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a nature guide with us, you have a key role in developing and implementing our outdoor pedagogical activities. You work both operatively in the field with groups and strategically with planning, development, follow-up, and reporting. An important part of our activities and your assignment is the regionally funded project Fifth Graders on Scåneleden. Here you work with planning and implementation, but also with expanding and continuing to develop the project to ensure that content and format are relevant and engaging to reach today's generation of children and young people. You also work with other assignments in our outdoor pedagogical activities to reach different target groups and make it possible for more people to experience nature. Several outdoor pedagogical projects today are directed toward elementary and middle school students, SFI students, involuntarily isolated individuals, and seniors. Your role has many collaboration points, both with internal functions within Stiftelsen Skånska Landskap and externally with Region Scania, municipalities, schools in Scania, cultural organizations, and other associations, networks, and companies. You are based at our office at Fulltofta Nature Center outside Hörby but also work in our other hiking areas throughout Scania. You have previous experience working with schools and pedagogical experience from working with various target groups. You need to have a good understanding of and interest in the connection between public health and time in nature. If you also have in-depth experience or education in outdoor life, gardening, cultural history, nature and wildlife, as well as climate and sustainability competence, this is an asset. We are looking for someone who is creative, innovative, and development-oriented, as activity development will be an important part of your assignment, creating new forms of collaboration and transforming new ideas into actual activities. It is essential that you have pedagogical ability and can adapt your communication to different target groups. You have an interest and willingness to both teach and continue developing yourself. Since this role involves many contact points and much collaboration, both within and outside the organization, you have a good ability to build strong relationships with different stakeholders and create solid partnerships.
