The Native Language Unit is one of the Child and Education Administration's support services, and together with primary school, adapted primary school, upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, and adult education, we have the important task of providing students with the conditions to develop rich and active multilingualism and achieve good results in other subjects. About the Position We are now seeking native language teachers/study counselors in the following languages for school year 26/27: Swahili 20% study counseling (preliminary) Kinyarwanda 20% study counseling Portuguese 15% native language instruction As a native language teacher, you are responsible for planning and delivering instruction in your native language in accordance with applicable curriculum standards in primary and upper secondary school. Your work also includes assessment and grading. As a study counselor, you support students in various school subjects in their native language. You work closely with subject teachers and plan and deliver study counseling based on student needs and in consultation with subject teachers/mentors. As a person, you are confident and communicative. Your instruction is accessible and you can adapt your working methods to meet the needs of a diverse group. You build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have a well-developed ability to work systematically and manage potential changes while maintaining your composure and sense of direction. Instruction takes place with students in groups or individually at several of the municipality's school units. The work is largely conducted on-site, but distance instruction for older students is also common. This position therefore requires that you are able to independently travel to and from workplaces throughout Norrtälje Municipality and you must be flexible regarding geographic placement. Requirements We are looking for someone who has: · your native language as the teaching language · education and professional experience as a teacher · good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written · good IT skills and the ability to integrate digital technology in instruction Meritorious qualifications · Teacher education with certification in the relevant language · Since we work across the entire municipality, a driver's license and access to a car are merits for all positions. For this role, the starting salary is normally between 30,000 and 40,000 kr depending on experience and qualifications.
