Ref: 20262021 Job Responsibilities Do you want to work in a multicultural environment and serve as a bridge builder between different cultures as a teacher? The Native Language Unit is part of the elementary school administration in the City of Malmö, and we are now hiring a native language teacher in English (temporary position). As a native language teacher, you work with native language instruction in grades 1-9 and at the upper secondary level. You provide study guidance in the student's native language across the school's various subjects. Teaching takes place at elementary schools and upper secondary schools throughout Malmö. You motivate and inspire students while actively working for their development so they reach the learning objectives. You provide your students with context during the school day and contribute to their integration. You use digital tools and pedagogical resources in your teaching. Together with your colleagues, you work to develop instruction. You participate in various project groups aimed at developing teaching for our students. As a native language teacher, you have many different points of contact: students, guardians, and school staff. Currently, we are hiring native language teachers in the following languages: English: 1 position, 100% (temporary position). Qualifications We are looking for someone who has a teaching degree with certification to teach in the relevant language, or alternatively another academic degree. For permanent positions, a Swedish teaching degree is required, or a foreign teaching degree assessed by the Swedish Higher Education Authority as equivalent to a Swedish degree and supplemented with didactic-methodological studies at the higher education level in Sweden. You have very strong knowledge of the Swedish language, at least equivalent to upper secondary Swedish level 2. To be considered for the position, you also need very strong knowledge, both spoken and written, of the native language. You have contemporary language skills and follow the linguistic development of the native language. You have previous experience working as a teacher in Sweden or abroad. It is a merit if you have worked as a native language teacher. You need strong digital skills, and we are pleased if you have experience with both Google and Microsoft tools, as well as other pedagogical resources. You have good insight and knowledge of the Swedish school curriculum and can apply it in your daily work. Work as a native language teacher requires strong didactic and pedagogical ability, and you can lead and organize work to create a good study environment and learning atmosphere for students. As a person, you have strong collaboration skills since you need to be able to build good relationships with students, guardians, and school staff. Furthermore, you are self-directed and take great responsibility for your work. We welcome your application! About the Workplace The Unit for Native Language Instruction and Study Guidance organizes and serves all elementary and upper secondary schools in Malmö with native language instruction and study guidance in the native language. Approximately 15,000 students are offered native language instruction, and 3,000 students receive study guidance in their native language. Approximately 280 native language teachers in around 50 languages are currently employed in the operation, and have their daily workplace at schools throughout Malmö.
