JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a mother tongue teacher and study guide, you support students in their language and knowledge development using their mother tongue, and serve as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You do this, among other things, through close collaboration with the student's mentor and teaching staff. You conduct high-quality instruction and maintain an inclusive approach. You will work with students of different ages. The position may be located at one or more school units. The position includes • planning mother tongue instruction based on the curriculum for the subject • planning study guidance based on the student's and subject's needs • planning your instruction in collaboration with subject teachers, mentors, and other educational staff so that it meets the student's individual needs • using digital tools for both student learning and planning and documentation of instruction • responsibility for assessment and grading • reporting attendance • being the face of Järfälla Language Center QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who • have the current language as your mother tongue or have documented good language skills • have very good skills in Swedish and in your mother tongue in both speech and writing • have good knowledge of the culture and school system in the countries the students come from • have good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system • have knowledge of the Swedish school curriculum and other governing documents • have teacher education or equivalent pedagogical education and experience • have experience in mother tongue instruction and study guidance • find it easy to interact with students individually and in groups and to create good relationships • have good computer skills • have great flexibility and a solution-focused approach as the assignment can change quickly based on the needs of the schools • are accustomed to taking great personal responsibility and can work independently As a mother tongue teacher, you meet a large number of staff members you need to be able to collaborate with, both mother tongue colleagues and subject teachers at the schools. Being able to collaborate with all your colleagues and other staff is a prerequisite for working with us.
