Job responsibilities
As a native language teacher in Helsingborg, you typically combine two important assignments: being a native language teacher and a study guidance counselor.
In your role as a native language teacher, you are responsible for teaching students according to the curriculum in the native language subject, which means you plan lessons and adapt instruction based on each student's language level, needs, and age. You continuously assess students' development, make assessments, and assign grades according to given grading criteria. This may mean that working hours in some cases extend until 6:00 p.m. All instruction is held at schools in Helsingborg city.
As a study guidance counselor, you support students in understanding and mastering content in various subjects in their native language or strongest language. This often occurs in parallel with instruction, and your role is to support the student's language and knowledge development in various school subjects.
In your role as a native language teacher and study guidance counselor, you will work across all school forms, and in study guidance you will support all subjects based on students' needs.
We are seeking you with Somali as your native language. To work with us, you will need to work on Wednesdays. Digital interviews will take place no earlier than 7/8.
What we offer
We offer you varied, responsible, and stimulating work with opportunities for personal development. The workplace is smoke-free and health-conscious. As an employee, you will receive a wellness allowance of 3,000 kronor per year.
Qualifications
We are primarily seeking someone who has Swedish teacher certification with authorization in the native language subject. Otherwise, you should have other relevant academic education, where pedagogical training is a merit. You must have very good knowledge of the Swedish language; be able to speak, read, and write fluently, and have completed Swedish 3 at the secondary school level.
You are expected to be able to work goal-oriented and have a deep understanding of the national and municipal governing documents that regulate school operations. Your ability to plan, implement, and evaluate instruction in accordance with these governing documents is crucial to ensure equivalence, high quality, and goal achievement.
In the role of native language teacher and study guidance counselor, it is also important that you are comfortable using digital tools both in instruction and for administrative purposes. You should be able to plan and conduct lessons with the support of digital tools as well as use IT systems to document and follow up on students' knowledge development.
