The Center for Multilingualism works to ensure students have the opportunity to receive instruction in their native language as well as academic guidance in the language they know best. The organization currently represents 38 different languages. We collaborate with both municipal and independent school administrators, from preschool through upper secondary school.
Students who have at least one guardian with a native language other than Swedish have the opportunity to study their language as a school subject. Through native language instruction, students strengthen their multilingualism, develop their identity, and build pride in their language and background.

Employment Information
This position is a fixed-term part-time appointment at 5%. Start date by agreement, through December 31, 2026.
Your Work Tasks
Working as a native language teacher is a dynamic and varied position where student demand drives planning. You will visit different schools throughout the municipality—both centrally located and in outlying areas—to meet students in their school environment.
The role may include the following work tasks:
Native language instruction
Academic guidance in the native language
Distance instruction and distance guidance
Language support initiatives in collaboration with the Reception Unit Hej Umeå
Academic guidance means you will support students in grades 1–9 as well as those in the Language Introduction program at upper secondary school. Guidance can take place before, during, or after class time. You work closely with the mentor and subject teachers, who are responsible for planning, while you provide support in the native language to strengthen the student's knowledge development.
This may include support to Hej Umeå Reception Unit in welcoming newly arrived students, for example through informational meetings and needs assessment.

Requirements
Saurashtra as your native language with documented proficiency in it
Approved Swedish B / Swedish 2
Good digital skills
Teacher education, Swedish or foreign—or alternatively other pedagogical experience
Valid certificate from the criminal background check register, as required by the Suitability Control Act
Meriting Factors
Knowledge of additional languages
