Would you like to work in a multicultural environment and as a teacher serve as a bridge between different cultures? The Native Language Unit is part of the primary school administration in the City of Malmö, and we are now seeking a native language teacher in Italian at 70%.
As a native language teacher, you will work with native language instruction in grades 1 - 9 and at the upper secondary level. You provide academic support in the student's native language across the school's various subjects. Teaching takes place at primary and secondary schools throughout the City of Malmö. You motivate and inspire students while actively working toward their development so they achieve the learning objectives. You provide students with context during the school day and contribute to their integration. You use digital tools and pedagogical methods in your teaching. Together with your colleagues, you work to develop instruction. You participate in various project groups aimed at improving teaching for our students. As a native language teacher, you have many different points of contact: students, guardians, and school staff.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a Swedish or foreign teaching degree, or alternatively a foreign academic degree. You have strong knowledge of the Swedish language, at least equivalent to Swedish 3 at the upper secondary level. To be considered for the position, you must have very strong oral and written skills in the native language. You have contemporary language usage and follow the linguistic development of the native language. You also have prior experience working as a teacher in Sweden or abroad. It is an advantage if you have previously worked as a native language teacher in Sweden. It is also an advantage if you have knowledge of Office programs, Google Apps such as Drive and Google Classroom. For permanent positions, a Swedish teaching degree and Swedish teacher certification are required.
You have good knowledge of and insight into the Swedish school's governing documents and can apply them in your daily work. The position requires strong didactic and pedagogical abilities. You can lead and organize work to create a conducive learning environment and good atmosphere throughout the day for students. Furthermore, you have strong collaboration skills and build positive relationships with students, guardians, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

The Native Language Instruction and Academic Support Unit organizes and serves all primary and secondary schools in Malmö with native language instruction and academic support in the native language. Approximately 15,000 students are offered native language instruction and 3,000 students receive academic support in their native language.
Over 280 native language teachers in around 50 languages are currently employed in the operation, with their daily workplace at schools throughout Malmö.
