The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a multi-location institution with operations at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The activities include research and education in the subjects: English, gender studies, history, criminology, literary studies, social science, sociology, political science, Swedish as a second language and the Swedish language. Research is conducted within each subject as well as within the Risk and Crisis Research Center (RCR), Forum for Gender Studies (FGV) and DEMICOM. Duties The duties of a university lecturer include teaching and supervision of students at basic level in political science. Teaching is conducted primarily at the campus in Östersund with a focus on policy analysis and public administration. The position includes competence development and administration in accordance with the current working hours agreement and local guidelines. Qualifications Anyone to be employed as a university lecturer shall be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations. Qualified to be employed as a university lecturer in political science is someone who has completed a master's degree in political science or a related subject area corresponding to at least 180 higher education credits, completed higher education pedagogical training or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge, and demonstrated teaching skills. The ability to teach in Swedish is a requirement. High presence at the place of work in Östersund is a requirement, as is the ability to teach at Campus Sundsvall if needed. Assessment criteria As assessment criteria for employment of a university lecturer, the degree of such skills that are a requirement for eligibility for employment applies. The assessment of pedagogical skills shall be given equal care as the assessment of other eligibility-based conditions. Meritorious for the position is previous experience of teaching political science at university level or in related subjects. Experience in teaching in English is also meritorious. Particularly meritorious is experience of having taught within public administration and policy analysis. Also particularly meritorious are good knowledge of narrative policy analysis. Personal qualities Since the position involves a lot of student contact and collaboration with colleagues, social competence, good collaboration skills and good communication skills are important. Since the position will involve course responsibility and teaching in several different courses in parallel, you need to be able to work independently, have an aptitude for adapting to changed circumstances and have a good ability to plan your work. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Other assessment criteria Experience working with IT systems for distance education at university level is meritorious. Processing Preparation of the employment follows the procedures specified in chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.
