The Department of Economics and Planning is responsible for the university's financial management, accounting, financial statements, budget and forecast work, financial monitoring and analysis, financial administration, invoice handling, travel services, business planning and monitoring, and procurement. The department's mission is to work with both ongoing operational activities and development and strategic matters within its areas of responsibility. The department consists of the Accounting and Business Economics units and a staff. Mid Sweden University is now seeking an accounting economist as a financial specialist within the Accounting unit. The unit handles budgets, forecasts, project support, accounting, financial statements and annual reports, invoices, and Mid Sweden University's travel coordination. An important part of the work is to provide good service and support to the organization on financial matters. The department works in the Unit4 ERP (Agresso) financial system and uses Hypergene for budgeting and monitoring. Job Responsibilities You are one of six financial specialists working with accounting matters, financial statements, monitoring and analysis, as well as the financial sections of interim reports and annual reports. Additionally, you will actively participate in developing and adapting university-wide financial processes, accounting and management models, and conduct internal training. University-wide financial matters are handled continuously within the unit and distributed among financial specialists according to their areas of responsibility. If needed, you will also participate in budget and forecast work. Your Background We are looking for someone who has: Relevant university degree Several years of experience working with accounting Good ability to communicate and document in Swedish and English It is also a merit if you have: Experience working with finance in the higher education sector or other public sector activities Experience with Unit4 ERP (Agresso) and Hypergene Your Qualities The role requires you to be organized, have good analytical skills, and be problem-solving. Furthermore, you are service-oriented and have good collaboration skills. You work independently within the scope of the position. We place great importance on your personal qualities. Employment and Start Date The position is a permanent full-time employment with start date August 17, 2026, or by agreement. A 6-month probationary period may apply.
