The Animal and Environment Department is one of the County Administrative Board's seven departments that handles permits, inspections and oversight within disease control, health, food, feed and animal welfare. We also work with oversight, licensing and inspection guidance within the areas of the Environmental Code, water activities, water protection, dam safety, environmentally hazardous activities, fish farming, wind power, hydroelectric power, contaminated areas and more. Our employees are, for example, environmental protection officers, county veterinarians and animal welfare officers. Description The environmental protection function consists of 18 officers with varying backgrounds and experience. We are seeking an environmental protection officer for the Environmental Protection Function with a focus on water activities. In this work, it is of great importance that you are proactive, results-oriented, communicative and have the ability to solve problems. Responsibilities You will mainly handle applications, statements and conduct oversight of water activities (power plants, water extraction etc.) and the Act on Public Water Services and Water Protection while contributing to sustainable development. Other tasks may also be relevant depending on your background. As an environmental protection officer, you will play a major role in our work conducting oversight of water activities to ensure that current permits are followed. You will develop proposals and documents for statements on permit applications from a holistic perspective, and you will often collaborate with internal and external parties to achieve results. Good collaboration skills will be crucial. Qualifications We see that you have a natural science academic education of at least 180 credits such as environmental and health protection inspector, engineer or other relevant education that the employer deems equivalent. Education/experience in limnology and environmental law is meritorious. You must have worked with oversight or licensing of environmentally hazardous activities for at least 1 year. Since business travel occurs throughout the county, with limited or no access to public transport, a Class B driving license is a requirement. It is meritorious if you have experience from work with oversight or licensing of water activities as well as water protection areas and the Public Water Services Act within a public authority or municipality.
