Mellanskånes Renhållnings AB (MERAB) is now looking for a committed environmental educator who wants to help increase sorting, reduce missorting, and strengthen understanding of a circular society. With us, you will have a key role in transforming knowledge into action in classrooms, residential areas, and in people's everyday lives. As an environmental educator at MERAB, you are an important ambassador for sustainable development in our owner municipalities Eslöv, Höör, and Hörby. You plan, carry out, and develop educational and information initiatives that make it easy and motivating to make the right choices. You work both operationally and with a development focus—out in schools, in dialogue with property owners and residents, and together with colleagues to develop effective working methods and reach more target groups. The goal of the role is to help MERAB reach our overall objectives: to reduce residual waste by 30% by 2030 (compared to 2023) to prepare at least 65% of municipal waste for reuse or material recycling by 2035 Your efforts will contribute to increased sorting rates, reduced missorting, and more circular behaviors among residents and businesses. The role is new and involves great variety, many interactions with people, and good opportunities to develop both the business and your own working methods. Responsibilities Support efforts to improve sorting, reduce missorting, and increase knowledge among residents and businesses. Work out in operations to build a good understanding of MERAB's waste collection and management. Plan and conduct lectures and workshops on waste, recycling, reuse, and sustainable development. Visit schools and adapt content and pedagogy for different age groups and target audiences. Build and maintain relationships with schools, municipalities, housing companies, and other partners. Conduct information meetings and advisory services for property owners and in multi-family residential buildings. Develop educational materials, presentations, and information initiatives related to waste issues. Contribute to developing new formats and channels, such as digital education, films, campaigns, and social media. Participate in campaigns, events, and other activities that strengthen knowledge of sustainable waste management. Follow up on the effects of initiatives through, for example, waste composition analysis, customer dialogue, and statistics, and use these insights to develop the work. Work closely with colleagues in areas such as customer service, recycling centers, communications, and operations. Qualifications Have relevant higher education in, for example, pedagogy, environmental science, sustainable development, communication, or another field that the employer considers equivalent. Have experience in teaching, lecturing, or leading groups. Are comfortable meeting different target groups and can adapt your message in a pedagogical and engaging way. Have good knowledge of environmental issues and sustainable development. Have good ability to express yourself clearly in Swedish, both spoken and written. Are used to working independently, in a structured manner, and in close collaboration with others. Have good digital skills and can create materials and presentations. Have a B-class driver's license. Meritorious Knowledge of waste management or circular economy. Experience with behavior change or nudging. Experience in project management or campaign work. About the Company Mellanskånes RenhållningsAB Mellanskånes Renhållningsaktiebolag, MERAB, is a municipal waste management company owned by the municipalities of Eslöv, Hörby, and Höör. The company is responsible for waste management in the owner municipalities, and operations include collection and treatment of household waste and business waste. MERAB is also responsible for operating Rönneholms waste facility and 6 recycling centers.
