About the position
Uppsala Vatten's sludge production has been certified according to Revaq since 2013 to ensure that production meets the requirements set by farmers, consumers, and Swedish legislation. As an Environmental Engineer, you are responsible, together with our Environmental Coordinator, for ensuring that we follow the company's guidelines for systematic quality work that governs our work with, among other things, sludge. You will work in a broad and varied role with many contact points, both internally and externally.
Your duties include proactive upstream work aimed at reducing the supply of hazardous substances to wastewater treatment plants by, for example:
• Develop strategies and action plans for upstream work
• Conduct active dialogue with connected facilities and follow up on requirements and guidelines
• Develop guidelines for connected facilities' discharge to wastewater
• Answer inquiries about facility connections
• Point of contact for incoming questions about wastewater discharge
• Conduct internal audits for Revaq certification
You will also work for sustainable nutrient recovery by, for example:
• Develop strategies for sludge management
• Monitor sludge quality and conduct dialogue with stakeholders about sludge production, content, and use
• Report and follow up on, among other things, sludge quality
As an Environmental Engineer, you will be part of the Environment and Sustainability section. The position is located at our office in Uppsala Business Park. Some opportunity for remote work is available. Travel within the role occurs.
Qualifications
• Technical and/or natural sciences university education in chemistry, water and wastewater, or environment
• Experience from the water and wastewater industry or process industry
• Excellent knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing
• B driver's license is a requirement
• Experience in the chemistry field is a merit
• Previous experience with Revaq certification is a merit

Other information
A large part of our operations is classified as essential services since we supply Sweden's fourth largest city with drinking water. For this position, a security clearance interview with background check will be conducted before employment. You must also be prepared to be assigned to civil defense duties within the framework of Uppsala Vatten and Avfall's role in civil protection. Uppsala Vatten applies a 6-month probationary period. We apply individual and differentiated salary setting.
