We are now seeking an environmental and health protection inspector for our joint environment and building department serving Berg and Härjedalen municipalities. We are looking for someone who wants to work with service-oriented and trustworthy public administration. Good colleagues, varied work, and five fantastic seasons are included! Duties Berg and Härjedalen municipalities have a shared environment and building department and environment and building board. In total, we are approximately 40 employees working with environmental and health protection, environmental monitoring, food, alcohol, building permits, and GIS/surveying. The environment unit employs 16 competent colleagues, of which 8 are environmental and health protection inspectors. Our offices are located in Funäsdalen, Hede, Vemdalen, Sveg, Hackås, and Svenstavik. The position will be based in Hackås, Svenstavik, Sveg, or Funäsdalen. Since the offices are relatively far from each other, parts of the work and collaboration with colleagues are conducted via Teams and other digital communication tools. We are now seeking a new colleague for an approximately one-year temporary contract as one of our colleagues will be on parental leave. We work toward service-oriented and trustworthy public administration in Berg and Härjedalen municipalities. As an environmental and health protection inspector, your role includes conducting inspections and handling incoming cases related to environmental and health protection. The work is interesting and varied, and offers excellent opportunities for development in various areas. Within health protection, work includes inspections of schools, preschools, and swimming pools. Environmental protection involves inspecting environmentally hazardous activities such as industries, gas stations, wastewater systems, wind power, and contaminated areas. The work also includes handling permits and notifications for wastewater systems, environmentally hazardous activities, and heat pumps, as well as responding to referrals. Qualifications We are looking for someone with education in environmental and health protection or equivalent that includes environmental legislation at university/college level or equivalent. Knowledge of practical application of legislation in this area, primarily the Environmental Code, is meritorious. Experience with inspection and permit work within environmental and health protection is also meritorious. Strong knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is required. Computer skills are meritorious, particularly experience with Ecos2. A driver's license for a passenger car (category B) is required, as parts of your work will take place in different locations within the municipalities. Both Berg and Härjedalen are Sámi administrative municipalities, and we therefore consider it meritorious if you have knowledge of South Sámi language and culture. Personal Qualities To succeed in the role of environmental and health protection inspector, we see that you are action-oriented and have a talent for collaboration. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Being attentive is particularly important, as well as the ability to quickly grasp different matters.
