The Swedish Maritime Administration is responsible for providing piloting services in Swedish waters. Pilot assignments are ordered through a traffic control center, where pilot operators ensure that assignments are planned as efficiently as possible based on customer needs and the availability of pilots on duty.
Job Responsibilities
As a pilot operator, you will work with receiving pilot orders and distributing piloting assignments, recording service times, vessel arrival and departure times, and handling ongoing administrative tasks related to the piloting process. The work pace is sometimes high and you are expected to be able to handle multiple situations simultaneously. Sometimes conditions change with short notice and you must quickly revise your planning.
Work is performed at irregular times, both day and night shifts. A medical certificate confirming fitness for night work is required before employment begins. Pilot planning is currently conducted from the Värtaterminalen in Stockholm with a service area from Oxelösund to Kalix.
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone with at least three years of upper secondary education and a valid SRC radio license. It is important that you can express yourself well orally and in writing in both Swedish and English. You should also have good computer skills and easily handle various IT systems. It is an advantage if you have education in maritime subjects and/or work experience in shipping. A Captain's Certificate Class VIII is an advantage. Education in logistics is also advantageous. It is also beneficial if you have experience working in service in some form, preferably within the logistics sector.

You are communicative and passionate about providing excellent service to our customers. Since you share responsibility for operations with a team of several pilot operators, collaboration skills, solution-focused approach, and high sense of responsibility are very important qualities.

How and When?
This recruitment concerns a fixed-term position as needed to be filled in September/October and lasting a maximum of 12 months from the start date. We believe it would be advantageous if you, as an applicant, are studying and want to combine your studies with work in the evenings, weekends, and during holidays.
