Sweden's most beautiful workplace is looking for a Pilot Area Manager based in Gothenburg Working as a Pilot Area Manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration The Swedish Maritime Administration provides piloting services and pilot assistance to vessels within pilotage areas. As a Pilot Area Manager, you represent the Swedish Maritime Administration locally in relation to customers, authorities, and other stakeholders, and you hold nautical responsibility for the fairways in your piloting area. You will be responsible for the Gothenburg piloting area, which encompasses a geographical area from Fladen lighthouse in the south to a line just north of Rörö. You will have personnel responsibility for a group of approximately 30 pilots and 1 administrator who work from the pilot station at Tångudden. You are part of the management team for the Piloting Business Area and report to the Business Area Manager. The position includes travel and on-call duty according to an established schedule. Work Tasks In your role as Pilot Area Manager, you are responsible for operations and development within the piloting area and work to ensure that operations are conducted with customers and stakeholders in focus. You are responsible for financial and operational monitoring and have budget, personnel, and profit responsibility for the area. You lead nautical operations with the pilots and hold overall nautical responsibility for the area. In daily operations, you are responsible for ensuring that vessels receive piloting services. Together with your area colleagues, you represent the Swedish Maritime Administration to customers, the public, and other authorities, and assist the Swedish Maritime Administration's infrastructure department in responding to consultations related to the piloting area. Together with supervisors, you monitor and examine pilots undergoing training. Your tasks also include coordinating regional crisis preparedness work and total defense planning, and collaborating with regional administrations and other actors within crisis preparedness and total defense efforts. Since a large part of the work also involves participating in, developing, and leading piloting operations from a national perspective, it is a prerequisite that you have the ability to travel for work. Who Are You? We are looking for someone with an academic university education, where maritime education is a merit. You have recognized good leadership skills, preferably from leadership roles aboard ships, shipping companies, businesses, or public organizations. Your leadership is communicative, coaching, and trust-based, and you give employees the opportunity for participation, engagement, and responsibility. You have integrity and are accustomed to working with and driving change and operational development in an operative business. You have previous experience with long-term and strategic change management in complex organizations. You must hold a valid B-category driving license. We would like to see that you have experience working in operative activities within maritime, logistics, and transport or equivalent operations. We would prefer that you have good knowledge of maritime traffic, maritime safety, ports, shipping, cargo owners, and cargo flows. If you also have experience working with continuity/total defense planning, we would view this as a merit. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You work strategically and long-term with complex issues, cultural shifts, and customer-oriented operational development. We see that you are analytical and have the ability to solve complex issues.
