Your Role
As manager of the Payroll and Controlling unit, you are responsible for leading, developing, and ensuring quality in a specialist function that handles payroll, scholarships, fees, pensions, and insurance for approximately 6,500 people each month.
You lead a competent team of 10 employees and have overall responsibility for the unit's operations, personnel, and finances. An important part of your assignment is to continue developing work methods, processes, and systems to ensure efficient, lawful, and service-oriented payroll management.
The role involves many contact points and close collaboration with other units within the HR department, finance functions within central operations support, and colleagues at KI's institutes. You also have an important role in supporting core operations with matters related to payroll, pensions, insurance, and the application of regulations.
As part of the HR department's management group, you actively contribute to both the department's strategic development and shared leadership within the HR department. You are expected to see the bigger picture, collaborate across unit boundaries, and help develop HR support in line with operational needs.
As payroll manager, your responsibilities include:
Ensuring correct, efficient, and quality-assured payroll management for approximately 6,500 people each month
Responsibility for ensuring payroll administration complies with laws, collective agreements, and government regulations
Driving development and improvement of processes, work methods, and digital solutions within the payroll area
Responsibility for managing and developing the Primula payroll system
Ensuring high quality in the unit's support and advisory services to core operations
Working with follow-up, analysis, and financial reconciliations within the payroll area
Leading, developing, and coaching team members within the unit
Contributing to the HR department's strategic work through active participation in the management group.
You report to the HR Director and are part of the HR department's management group.

We are Looking For You With:
Academic education in HR, finance, or another field deemed equivalent by the employer
Experience as a manager with operational, personnel, and budget responsibility
Experience in payroll operations, pension and insurance matters
Good understanding of regulation-driven operations and complex administrative processes
Very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
It is advantageous if you have:
Experience from government agencies or other large organizations
Knowledge of government conditions and collective agreements
Experience in change management, process development, and digitalization in administrative operations
