The Workplace Children and Education in Nordmaling includes preschool, primary school, adapted primary school, after-school care, and adult education. Nordmaling has operations in the central town and in adjacent villages. The management group consists of a school principal and department heads, which also includes meal service. Student health services work centrally and locally, with the speech-language pathologist being part of a team alongside a school psychologist, school nurse, counselor, and special education teacher. The team collaborates with school and preschool principals and works directly in the facilities. The school principal is formally responsible for the speech-language pathologist, but student health services as a whole are led by the principal. The Role and Responsibilities As a speech-language pathologist in our student health services, you play an important role in strengthening children and students' communicative abilities, which contributes to increased self-confidence, better conditions for learning, and a higher quality of life. The assignment is primarily focused on promotion and prevention work, with emphasis on identifying and removing barriers to learning and supporting students' achievement of learning goals. In this role, you primarily work in a consultative and coaching capacity with school and preschool staff in the areas of speech, language, communication, and reading and writing difficulties. You work closely with the schools' local student health teams where cases are discussed and planned in dialogue with the speech-language pathologist to ensure appropriate support and interventions. The assignment also includes reading and writing assessments and evaluations of speech, language, and communication abilities. Based on your assessments and priorities, language support interventions are implemented at both individual and group levels. The role also includes planning and delivering targeted training for school and preschool staff. As a licensed speech-language pathologist, you work under health and medical care legislation for assessments and interventions involving individual students or student groups. The assignment therefore includes responsibility for record-keeping in accordance with applicable legislation. Your Profile We are seeking someone who is a licensed speech-language pathologist with a complete degree (to be provided upon a potential job offer). A driver's license (category B) is also required. It would be beneficial if you have: Experience with reading and writing assessments. Experience working in educational settings. Experience with assignments involving coaching and consultation. Experience working with students in adapted primary school. Knowledge of preschool operations. As a speech-language pathologist, you will be instrumental in helping children and young people develop their communication skills.
