Description Olshammar School is an adapted primary school for students assessed as unable to meet primary school learning objectives due to intellectual disabilities. The school has 20 students distributed across five classes. The school is located in a green area that is calm and safe. Our large, secluded courtyard offers opportunities for play and activities. Teaching follows the adapted primary school curriculum with a focus on subject areas. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated speech-language pathologist who wants to be part of our student support team and contribute to supporting our students' language and communication development. As a school speech-language pathologist, you work at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You work closely with the school's special educators and, of course, with our classroom teachers. Responsibilities Together with your colleagues, you will identify what support students need. You will collaborate with engaged teachers and teaching assistants to support students in their learning development during the school day and in leisure activities. This means that through a coaching work approach and mindset, you offer colleagues support in the areas of speech, language, communication, play/interaction, reading, and writing. You will also work directly with students (individually or in groups) by assessing, planning, and implementing interventions that strengthen abilities in these areas. As a school speech-language pathologist, you are part of the school's student support services. Student support primarily works in health promotion and prevention. Designing and conducting staff training is a recurring part of the school speech-language pathologist's role. Qualifications You are a licensed speech-language pathologist with several years of experience identifying and supporting students with language and communication difficulties. Formal requirements for this position are: Have knowledge of AGR and experience working with students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and autism. Have experience working with PECS, picture communication, and imitative response. Have knowledge of and be able to work with phonological awareness. It is advantageous if you have: Experience working as a school speech-language pathologist Good knowledge of the target group of children/youth with intellectual disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental disorders Experience with various forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) such as Sign Language as Augmentative and Alternative Communication, picture-supported communication for cognitive purposes, and high- and low-tech visual communication Pedagogical experience Good knowledge of current research on speech, language, and communication difficulties as well as reading and writing difficulties. You have good ability to work together with other professionals. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you promote a respectful work environment. You understand the shared mission, act based on it, and contribute to the whole. You easily adapt yourself and your work approach based on changed circumstances and new information. You have the ability to work independently based on what the situation requires and the ability to make decisions within the scope of your assignment.
