Within the children's hospital there are several different departments such as neurology, surgery, oncology, and specialized pediatrics. The paramedical section consists of, in addition to speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, physiotherapists, social workers, psychologists, and special educators. The operations encompass both scheduled and acute care for county, national, and regional patients. The speech-language pathologists at the children's hospital work in both inpatient and outpatient care and are part of the Folke Bernadotte neurorehabilitation team. Work in inpatient care includes interventions on neurology, medicine, and oncology wards. Outpatient care is connected to the children's hospital's various outpatient clinics such as neonatal, neurology, cardiology, and gastroenterology clinics. In the Folke Bernadotte neurorehabilitation team, assessment and rehabilitation takes place for children with acquired brain injury, epilepsy, or other neurologically caused difficulties. Your Assignment We are looking for a speech-language pathologist to work with children and youth ages 0–18 years who have feeding and swallowing difficulties and/or speech, language, and communication difficulties. You assess and treat children who have difficulty eating or who have acquired speech and language difficulties, in both outpatient and inpatient care. The work is largely characterized by interventions for children with feeding and swallowing difficulties, and you collaborate extensively with other healthcare personnel such as dietitians, physicians, and nurses. Your Qualifications You are a licensed speech-language pathologist and interested in this knowledge area. Experience working in dysphagia and feeding difficulties, hospital care, and speech and language assessment is desirable. You need to have an interest in teamwork. Since the speech-language pathologists' assignment at the children's hospital is under development, you need to be stimulated by taking your own initiative and developing the operations. You should have good collaboration skills and be flexible, as the work involves contact with many different people and professions.
