Department of Clinical Sciences We are now recruiting licensed veterinarians for summer locum positions in the equine department. We welcome your application! About the Job You will primarily work with hospitalized patients in the clinic's care unit and emergency reception. The position also includes on-call duty work. The UDS equine department is open 24/7, and work during on-call shifts involves caring for acutely ill horses and hospitalized patients. We offer support from experienced colleagues. Depending on your previous experience, work in one of our other units may also be relevant. You will work in a dynamic setting with clinical challenges at the forefront of research. Duty is scheduled around the clock. All employees at the equine clinic operate under a so-called roster service agreement. Your Background You are a licensed veterinarian with good experience with horses. Work experience in animal health care at animal hospitals is a merit. As a person, you are organized, structured, motivated, and have integrity. You have good communication and social skills and understand the importance of maintaining good client relationships and treating animal owners professionally. You are a good team player and prioritize the equine clinic's overall operations above your own unit's. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. About Us The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and graduate education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span all animal species within all these areas. At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced animal health care work hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also share knowledge with the general public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research findings, we develop the future of animal health care. Under one roof, we offer care for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern facilities adapted to our operations, we have access to advanced diagnostic imaging and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. The equine department receives approximately 5,000 horses annually. We currently have approximately 50 employees and are part of the Department of Clinical Sciences, which has approximately 350 employees. The department currently has three units: Outpatient clinic with orthopedic and medical cases, farrier services, and specialist consultation in respiration, dentistry, dermatology, and ophthalmology.
