We are seeking registered nurses who want to work with us in specialized palliative inpatient care. The Palliative Care Unit PAVA is a department within the Surgery division at Östersund Hospital. PAVA has 8 beds for specialized palliative inpatient care for patients within the Surgery division (orthopedics, women's clinic, eye/ear and surgery). At PAVA you will meet patients with palliative care needs and their loved ones. Care is delivered using a person-centered approach and work is conducted in teams with nursing assistants, physicians, and social workers. The team also includes occupational therapists, physical therapists, and dietitians. In your daily work, you will be responsible for the care of four patients together with two nursing assistants. As an employee, you will be involved in developing palliative inpatient care in the Jämtland-Härjedalen region together with the unit's nurse manager and staff from the specialized palliative home care unit Storsjögläntan. PAVA operates 24/7 and you will work night shifts by agreement. Weekend duty is scheduled for two weekends in five weeks. DUTIES You will work independently and as part of a team to meet the patient's individual care needs. In dialogue with the patient/loved ones, provide support for optimal participation and pursue person-centered care based on a palliative approach. Your nursing duties include direct patient care work. Using structured methods, you will identify palliative care needs together with the team, prescribe and prioritize preventive measures. You are responsible for medication management including injections, infusions, and pain pumps. You work in a team and collaborate closely with nursing assistants, physicians, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians. Orientation takes place with the nurse manager and unit nurse manager. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for a licensed registered nurse. If you also have specialist training in palliative care, that is a merit. We see an interest in palliative care as important. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. You are flexible, have good organizational skills, and want to work in a team.
