About Us
During 2026, Psychiatric Emergency Department East has taken a clear step forward organizationally. We have an expanded mission that includes Mobile Acute Psychiatry (mobile team), the Detoxification Unit (TNE), psychiatric ambulance, self-defense, and not least the Psychiatric Consultation Unit for all of SU.
We have a section manager on site, a psychiatry specialist, who will lead the work forward.
We are one of Sweden's largest psychiatric emergency departments with an average of 35 patient visits per day.
The psychiatric emergency department is part of the Dependency department, which consists of both outpatient and inpatient care. We have several specialized clinics, research, and education.

We offer you varied work where you get to be part of developing acute care for psychiatric patients at SU. Opportunities for research and specialist training positions in addiction medicine are available within the department.
Job Responsibilities
As a specialist physician at the psychiatric emergency department, you function as chief physician where you lead medical assessments and prioritizations, or as a consultant. You have overall responsibility for patient flow together with other physicians on duty at the emergency department.
You supervise ST physicians, AT physicians, and junior physicians.
You are involved in developing acute care and are actively engaged in improvement work at the department. It is varied work where patient flow is dynamic and intensity varies. You contribute to a smooth care process for patients and help through management of your own patients if the flow allows.
About You
We are looking for you as a specialist physician in psychiatry with an interest in acute psychiatry. You enjoy working in teams and coaching colleagues and nursing staff in complex situations. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
