Workplace Description
Are you passionate about seeing students develop and do you have experience with classroom teaching? Then you can apply to Stockholm City Schools' substitute pool. Your employment will be tied to the staffing unit at the Education Administration in Stockholm City, which is responsible for staffing and operating Stockholm City Schools' substitute pool. As a substitute teacher with us, you have a fixed-term employment with the opportunity to primarily work in our municipal primary schools. You are not guaranteed work; it is governed by the schools' need for substitutes and how much you can work.
Your Work
The work is varied and engaging but also responsible, as you are often solely responsible in the classroom. Your work experience, education, abilities, and skills form the basis for which activities and subjects you will have the opportunity to teach. Based on the schools' needs and in consultation with you, the staffing unit determines which areas you are available to work in. It is flexible work where you yourself set your availability for the days and times you can work in a web-based booking system. As a newly hired substitute, you will go through an introduction before you start working at the schools.
Your Competence and Experience
We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
• secondary school diploma, alternatively a komvux qualification, alternatively a foreign qualification validated by UHR
• experience with classroom teaching, either through work or from completed VFU 2
• good ability to express yourself and make yourself understood in Swedish, both orally and in writing
It is meritorious if you have:
• ongoing or completed teacher education, alternatively education as a leisure-time pedagogue
• good subject knowledge in primary school teaching subjects
• experience working with students with special needs
We are looking for someone who can work independently and is confident in handling a classroom situation on your own. Since you as a substitute teacher replace the school's regular staff during absences, we place high demands on flexibility, ability to collaborate, and social competence as you often change workplaces. You have good interpersonal skills and are attentive and clear in your communication with students and colleagues. You approach your work in a responsible and engaged manner. Your pedagogical ability is high and you can adapt your teaching based on students' needs.
