About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and prisoner transport. Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education Section provides education for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's clients. At each prison in the country and certain remand facilities, there are one or more learning centers where teachers provide instruction at basic and upper secondary levels, equivalent to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish language education for immigrants. Adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies function regardless of which facility a client is assigned to and even if they are transferred during their studies. Job Description Clients who need education can apply or be assigned to apply for adult education. Teaching is individualized and takes place at the Learning Center. As a teacher in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work in three functions. You teach your students at Östragård Prison in the Learning Center's facilities, and you will also support students in the role of educational mentor for those whose subject teacher is teaching remotely within the authority. In addition, you also teach students at a distance who are studying at other prisons. This means that in your assignment, you have continuous contact and collaborate with teachers and other colleagues throughout the country. All work takes place at the prison facility. Qualifications In your role as a teacher, you are a skilled educator with the will and ability to motivate, inspire, and guide students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematicity. The work is conducted both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good collaboration and initiative skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute through your approach to ensuring that everyone is treated equitably. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who has: Upper secondary teacher certification and license with subject competence in one or more of the following subjects: Business Economics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Chemistry/Physics combined with Mathematics. Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems Please attach your teaching license with competency documentation in your application. It is also advantageous to have: Experience teaching in adult education/Komvux Experience with distance teaching Relevant language skills IMPORTANT! We will hold interviews on August 12 and August 13 in person at Östragård Prison.
