About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transportation. Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education section provides education for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's clients. At each prison in the country and at certain remand prisons, there are one or more learning centers where teachers instruct at basic and upper secondary levels, equivalent to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish language education for immigrants. Adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies function regardless of which facility a client is at and even if they are transferred during their studies. Job Description Clients who need education can apply or be assigned to apply for adult education. Teaching is individualized and takes place at the Learning Center. As a teacher within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work in three functions. You teach your students at Fosie prison in the learning center's facilities, and you will also support students in the role of educational mentor for those whose subject teacher is at a distance in the authority. In addition, you also teach students at a distance who are studying at other prisons. This means that in your role, you have continuous contact with and collaborate with teachers and other colleagues throughout the country. All work takes place at the prison. Qualifications In your role as a teacher, you are a skilled educator with the desire and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a strong ability to create structure and systematicity. The work is conducted both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good collaboration and initiative skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. We are looking for you who have: Upper secondary teacher degree and teaching certification with subject competence in one or more of the following subjects: mathematics, business administration, natural sciences, chemistry/physics in combination with mathematics, modern languages (French, Spanish), social studies (please attach your teaching certification with competency specification in your application) The ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems It is also considered advantageous to have: Experience teaching in adult education/Komvux Experience with distance teaching Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replace it with selection questions relevant to the position.
