Activity Description Sjöparks School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the town center and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and approximately 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements of a secondary school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively on creating good learning environments, collegial learning, and sustainable structures to equip students for the future. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site at the unit. There is also a special education teacher, social pedagogue, study and career counselor. 2 key pedagogues work on developing our digital skills, and the school has a substitute teacher who covers short-term absences. Lead teachers work on subject development. The school is divided into 3 work teams, each led by a team leader. New and unqualified staff are guided by experienced and qualified colleagues as an introduction and in ongoing daily teaching work. At the school, there is an opportunity for students with special needs to work in smaller teaching groups. A preparatory class for newly arrived students is available at the school. Job Responsibilities As a pedagogue at Sjöparks School, you will work with everything related to teaching. You prepare, plan, implement, and evaluate student progress and your own teaching. You work in close collaboration with guardians. You actively participate in school meetings and the school's development as well as your own development. Most of the pedagogues also work as responsible mentor in a class. Qualifications We are looking for someone who holds a credential in woodwork and metalwork for years 7-9, and who has a present and attentive approach to students' different needs, is a clear leader, and has good collaboration skills. You are independent, take responsibility, and take own initiatives easily. We develop our work through pedagogical discussions and collegial learning, and we see it as a strength to be able to help each other to dare to be curious about new ways of working. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a merit in applications for employment at Gällivare Municipality.
