Älvsbyn Gymnasium has approximately 140 students distributed across seven programs. The school is centrally located, which means that sports halls, ice rinks, swimming pools, ski trails, football fields, track and field facilities, and nature are all right nearby, while it is also close to the town center with the main library, community spaces, bowling hall, and more. At Älvsbyn Sports Gymnasium, students can combine upper secondary studies with elite sports training in cross-country skiing, ski orienteering, and orienteering. Here there are challenging training environments, variety, and community. Students have the opportunity to extend their education over four years. Studying over four years gives students better conditions to focus on both their studies and their sports. Job Responsibilities As a teacher in Älvsbyn, we place great emphasis on you working based on current goals and governing documents. The main task is to take responsibility for students' learning and development through instruction, guidance, and support in the subject of Specialized Sports. You choose methods, content, and approach based on each student's knowledge, experience, and specific conditions, so that students reach the established goals. The work includes planning and conducting training with students as well as documenting, following up, and evaluating. You communicate goals and development with students. Collaboration with other staff is an important task as a large part of the work involves working in teams around the students, for example some of the training is conducted together with students at the orienteering and ski orienteering gymnasium and you will work in a team with both cross-country and orienteering coaches. In the position as cross-country skiing coach, other tasks may also be included such as admissions, testing, and marketing related to the activities. You also actively contribute to the school's development and take responsibility for your own professional development. The employment may involve some evening and weekend work as well as participation in training camps. Qualifications You must have a teaching degree or other relevant education/experience to be able to teach at upper secondary level in specialized sports. You must: have good didactic ability. have good collaboration and communication skills. have personal experience from training and competition at elite level is an asset. have well-documented experience from coaching assignments is an asset. have a B-class driver's license for manual transmission. Snowmobile license is an asset. Swedish Ski Association coach training is an asset. We offer a fixed-term position at 100% with start date 26-12-01 through 27-12-31 with possibility of extension. The position is a seasonal employment with unregulated working hours. If you lack full qualifications but have other education/experience deemed relevant for the position, a fixed-term position as assistant coach may possibly be offered.
