The Children and Education Administration in Östersund Municipality is now recruiting committed teachers in mother tongue and study guidance in mother tongue who want to make a difference for children and young people. We are looking for staff in the following languages: Amharic/Oromo, 50% Bengali, 75% Bilen, 10% Bulgarian, 15% Burmese, 5% Furian, 10% Kurdish (from Turkey), 10% Latvian, 15% Norwegian, 30% Portuguese, 25% Punjabi (India), 5% Slovenian, 15% Tagalog, 5% Czech, 5% Urdu, 5% The employment type and scope varies depending on the language, student base, and the applicant's education and competence. The employment form can be a permanent position, fixed-term employment or hourly employment depending on the scope and conditions of the assignment. About the Mother Tongue Unit The Mother Tongue Unit is responsible for mother tongue instruction, study guidance in mother tongue, and mother tongue support for multilingual children and students in Östersund Municipality. Our mission is to strengthen students' language development, identity and knowledge development. Through teaching and study guidance, we contribute to creating good conditions for students to succeed in school and achieve their goals. Together we work to provide the municipality's multilingual students with equal education. The work may be located at several schools within the municipality, which means travel between workplaces may occur during the working day. Your New Job As a teacher in mother tongue and study guidance in mother tongue, you work to support students' language and knowledge development. You teach students in their mother tongue and/or provide study guidance in their mother tongue based on the school's governing documents and the students' individual needs. The work involves close collaboration with classroom teachers and subject teachers to create the best conditions for the student's learning. Common Work Tasks Plan, conduct, document and follow up mother tongue instruction. Provide study guidance in mother tongue based on students' needs. Collaborate with school educators regarding students' learning and development. Grade according to applicable governing documents. Contribute to the unit's development and quality work. Participate in team meetings and professional development. Your Competence Requirements Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing. Knowledge of the relevant mother tongue at native speaker level. Ability to communicate and collaborate with students, guardians and school staff. Good digital competence. Meritorious Teacher certification or teaching degree. Eligibility for teaching in mother tongue. Experience with mother tongue instruction or study guidance. Experience working in school or preschool. Experience with or good understanding of different education systems and multilingual students' conditions. Knowledge of school governing documents and work in a multilingual learning environment. We Are Looking For You!
