Come and work with us at Dormsjöskolan! Dormsjöskolan is a small school with excellent resources. About twenty students from different parts of the country live and study here, primarily residing at our adjacent residential care home (HVB-hem). We also have students who commute to and from school daily from the surrounding area. We provide instruction in very small groups across three school forms: primary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The students at our school often have one or more diagnoses within the autism spectrum (NPF), which we address through individualized instruction that few other schools have the capacity to offer. The school maintains a very high staff-to-student ratio and we work in small groups or with individual instruction in a school environment tailored to our students' needs. Dormsjöskolan is beautifully situated by a lake, just outside Garpenberg. The school is owned by a non-profit foundation that has been operating at this location for over 60 years. We have excellent facilities including our own sports hall, forge, music room, auditorium, and gymnasium. However, it is the less visible conditions that truly constitute the school's strength. Here each student encounters the sense of safety and structure that they personally need. Here every student is seen and heard by dedicated staff who are there for the students' sake. About the Position You will work as a class teacher in a classroom with 4–6 students. You will be part of a team with other teachers and school support staff. The team has diverse backgrounds and competencies, but a shared goal – to create the best possible conditions for our students to succeed. If you are trained as a music teacher, we consider that a merit. We communicate frequently through daily morning meetings and have short decision-making processes. As a high staff-to-student ratio school, you need to be comfortable with other staff being present during your instruction. As an employee, you will also collaborate closely with staff from the five residential care homes in the area. Qualifications To be considered for this position, we require that you: Hold teacher certification and full subject authorization in relevant subjects. Have previous experience working as a teacher.
