We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to developing our public environments – from green parks to vibrant city streets and squares. Your responsibilities You will contribute a holistic perspective to the work of building and designing the living environment for Västerås residents. You will independently manage assignments and projects in early stages of public environments. Through your site analyses, you will develop and design green-blue structures and contribute to ensuring that the environments built can be maintained and managed well. You will plan public spaces with a focus on wholeness, sustainability, and quality. Here you will drive project planning, taking into account natural and cultural environments, outdoor recreation, and the city's unique landscape values. Your work will include preparing materials and managing budget and work environment issues during the planning phase. You will also participate in a wide variety of other projects and in the development of detailed plans, as well as in the creation of policy documents within the technical committee's area of responsibility. Projects vary in size and complexity and often involve dialogue with residents and other collaborative partners. Work tasks can to some extent be adapted based on your knowledge, experience, and interests. Your qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in landscape architecture and a couple of years of experience working in urban development and planning processes. You have also worked with site analyses and design issues at both the object level and from an urban space perspective, and you can prepare simple CAD drawings. You have good knowledge of urban ecosystem services and how green-blue structures interact with the city's needs. We see that you have experience working with various sustainability aspects – both ecological, social, and economic – to develop solutions that work for the city's needs, both now and in the future. Knowledge, experience, and drive to implement green stormwater solutions in various types of environments is a plus. In your work, you view dialogue with citizens and colleagues as an important part, and you are good at communicating and collaborating with others. You enjoy thinking innovatively, sharing knowledge, and working toward a common direction. You thrive working both independently and in a team – always with service and quality in focus. The position belongs to the planning division, which in addition to parks and playgrounds also oversees areas such as climate, water, safety, nature conservation, design, and traffic. The division also works closely with the construction and maintenance divisions, which facilitates turning ideas into reality. Here you will work broadly and variably throughout the urban development process, from ongoing planning to having influence on issues concerning the design of Västerås residents' living environments.
