We offer a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge about the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders during a temporary position between October 2026 and June 2027 at the Sleep Disorder Clinic at Akademiska University Hospital. Sleep is a broad medical field. Sleep problems are very common and significantly impact other somatic, cognitive, and psychological functions. Understanding sleep pathophysiology, evaluation, and treatment of sleep disorders is therefore of great importance when treating patients with many different symptoms. Our Operations The Sleep Disorder Clinic at Akademiska University Hospital is a highly specialized unit for evaluation and diagnosis of sleep disorders such as insomnia, hypersomnia, narcolepsy, and sleepwalking. We work with a broad spectrum of sleep medicine issues where a sleep disorder is suspected to be an important part of the disease picture. Our patients come from throughout the healthcare region and other regions. In addition to physicians, the team at the clinic also includes a psychologist, secretary, and nurse assistants. The operations are located at the Specialist Rehabilitation Unit approximately 4 km from Uppsala city center. The clinic is part of the Pain Center at Akademiska, and as a physician at the Sleep Disorder Clinic, you will be part of a larger physician group consisting of sleep medicine physicians and pain medicine physicians. Your Assignment You will work under the supervision of a specialist physician with special expertise in somnology (evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders). Your tasks include assessment of patients with severe sleep disorders during clinic visits, evaluation of examinations (such as polysomnography, apnea monitoring, overnight video recording, neurophysiologist responses to Multiple Sleep Latency Test), and feedback of the assessment and treatment recommendations to the patient. Your Qualifications We are seeking a physician in ST-training in a relevant specialty (such as psychiatry, neurology, neurophysiology, or general medicine) who is interested in deepening their knowledge about evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. Applicants with other specialties are also welcome. We appreciate if you are curious and results-oriented. We place great importance on personal suitability and good collaboration skills.
