The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. The clinic's mission is to provide specialist psychiatric care to residents in the Umeå area. The mission includes assessment and treatment. We have three general psychiatric care units, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units. The Psychiatric Clinic works toward equitable care and treatment based on research and clinical experience. As Medical Director, you will be involved in developing the clinic's operations and shaping future collaboration, structure, and workforce planning. Together with your team, you will work toward common goals, provide meaningful care for patients, and promote a good work environment. As Medical Director in Region Västerbotten, you have an important role for both employees and residents in the region. The Psychiatric Clinic is a large clinic with significant specialized expertise and motivated, engaged employees. In your role, you will have varied tasks and collaborate with the entire clinic. 1 position(s). DUTIES As Medical Director, you see the bigger picture and potential, and you move us forward with courage. You report directly to the Operations Manager and work in close collaboration with the Medical Director, Educational Director, and other department heads in the clinic's management group. The objective of the position is to provide units with the right expertise, create conditions for a good work environment for employees that strengthens them in their continued work and development. As Medical Director, you have personnel and budget responsibility, as well as responsibility for planning and scheduling for your unit and the medical team you lead at the clinic. The role includes supervisory responsibility for approximately 25 employees, consisting of licensed assistant physicians and doctors in specialist training in psychiatry. The role also includes participating in planning for physicians serving at the clinic as part of their pathway to licensure as assistant physicians. The clinic has a total of approximately 45 physicians, with responsibility shared between the Medical Director and Medical Chief. You serve as a role model, work to create shared visions and unlock initiative in your operations. You challenge and develop your employees while encouraging and highlighting their contributions. You take responsibility for your operations within your authority and represent the employer by leading and developing toward the Region's established goals. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with relevant higher education. Healthcare education and experience in a leadership position are required. Experience with psychiatric care is a merit. To succeed in this role, you need an interest and commitment to leading others. You are convincing in your leadership, take initiative, and lead toward decisions. You work in a structured and independent manner. You also have the ability to build good relationships and collaboration, both with personnel within the clinic and with other organizations. Furthermore, you have an interest in and ability to drive development and improvement for both employees and operations. Experience with IT systems and good communication skills in Swedish, both written and verbal, are required for this position. Employment form: Permanent employment. The role of leader within Region Västerbotten is a time-limited assignment, typically 4 years, combined with permanent employment within your area of expertise.
