About the position
Within Clinical Microbiology, we diagnose infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. We receive samples from hospitals, health centers, and clinics throughout the Stockholm region and are also a national resource for specialized microbiological diagnostics.
We are now seeking biomedical analysts and laboratory engineers for permanent employment and temporary positions within bacteriology in our 24-hour staffed operation Mikro 24Sju, with placement in Solna or Huddinge. Mikro 24Sju is responsible for acute microbiological diagnostics for the region's acute hospitals and performs, among other things, blood cultures, analyses of respiratory samples and cerebrospinal fluid, malaria diagnostics, and rapid tests for detecting bacteria, viruses, and parasites. The position includes work during day and evening shifts, Monday through Sunday.
Bacteriology
As an employee within bacteriology at Mikro 24Sju, you participate in diagnostic laboratory work. The work includes, among other things:
- Culturing and analysis of clinical samples
- Species and resistance determination of clinically relevant bacterial findings
- Molecular biological analyses, including extraction and qualitative detection of DNA and RNA from viruses, bacteria, and fungi
- Progressively independent assessments and interpretations of culture and analysis results

Together, we contribute to rapid and safe diagnostics that are of great importance for patient care. At the workplace, you work in close collaboration with molecular biologists/microbiologists and physicians.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Biomedical analyst certification or a higher education degree of at least 180 ECTS credits within a relevant field (scientific work, biomedicine, molecular biology)
- Good computer skills
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing
Meritorious:
- Experience working in a clinical microbiological laboratory or similar accredited operation
- Experience with microbiological culturing methods, and species and resistance determination methods
- Experience with blood cultures and acute microbiological analyses
- Experience with molecular biological methods (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction and PCR)
- Knowledge of quality assurance, method validation, and the laboratory's quality work
- Experience working in an operation with on-call, shift, or varying work hours
