Who Are We: Hortlax Parish, located in Piteå municipality, has a rich worship life and strong sense of belonging, with a large proportion of families with children. You will become part of a total team of about 20 people with high job satisfaction and extensive work experience, where we enjoy collaborating and supporting each other. The parish maintains good contact and excellent cooperation with schools, sports associations, and other community actors. What Does the Position Entail? As a church caretaker, you will have a combined indoor and outdoor role, working across all of the parish's facilities: the parish center, Hortlax Church, Tallheds Church, and the cremation chapel. Your duties include maintaining the green spaces around Hortlax Church and the parish center, as well as daily operations and maintenance of the parish's properties, such as ongoing operation and inspection of fire alarms, security systems, ventilation, and heating. As church caretaker, you are also responsible for weekday urn burials. Indoor duties include caring for the church space and its furnishings, preparing for the various services and religious ceremonies we offer in the church (e.g., concerts, weddings, baptisms, and funerals), managing sound, and welcoming our church visitors. Other tasks may also be included. The position involves daytime work, some evenings and weekends (including major holidays), with weekend work occurring at least once per month. You will work in a small team under the daily management of the cemetery superintendent/facilities manager. Competence, Experience, and Education: We are looking for someone with a positive outlook, who is solution-oriented, communicative, and unpretentious. You are curious and enjoy challenges. You have a humble and flexible approach, but can set boundaries. You are responsible and feel comfortable meeting people during different stages of life, both in joy and sorrow. What you should have: • B-class driver's license and access to your own car. • Good computer skills and comfortable working with different systems. • Technical knowledge and preferably experience with facility maintenance. • Strong Swedish language skills, both spoken and written. It is highly advantageous if you have previous experience with IT systems and handling digital equipment such as mobile phones and computers. The position requires high standards in your social abilities, and we place great emphasis on your personal suitability. You have appropriate upper secondary education and preferably some form of post-secondary education or other relevant competence. We expect that you share the Swedish Church's fundamental values, which is a prerequisite for credibly fulfilling the role of church caretaker. The Position: This is a temporary position at 100%, lasting until May 31, 2028 at the latest. Start date by agreement, but preferably as soon as possible. Possibility of extension may exist.
