Nordmarkens Pastorat, located in Årjäng Municipality, midway between Oslo and Karlstad along E18, is now seeking a new Cemetery Director. The Pastorat manages its 9 cemeteries with care, dignity, and long-term responsibility. We are looking for a Cemetery Director who wants to take comprehensive responsibility for the development, operations, and management of our burial services. About the Position As Cemetery Director, you hold overall responsibility for the Pastorat's cemeteries and burial services. The cemetery administration in Nordmarken has high ambitions to maintain beautiful cemeteries. In your role, you will lead and further develop this operation with a focus on quality, sustainability, and respect for each person's final resting place. The position is both strategic and operational, involving close collaboration with employees, elected representatives, authorities, and the public. You will be responsible for: Leadership and work environment for approximately 12 cemetery staff members (double during peak season). Planning, operations, and development of 9 cemeteries and green spaces, as well as budgeting, monitoring, and operations development with capacity planning. Exercising regulatory authority within burial services, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, and responsibility for developing and participating in communication and information work related to burial services. Who We Are Looking For We seek a clear, confident, and present leader with the ability to create structure, engagement, and job satisfaction. You have a genuine interest in people, the environment, and public service—and thrive in a role that encompasses both long-term perspectives and everyday matters. You have: Experience in management and leadership with personnel responsibility, preferably in public administration, property management, parks, cemetery work, or similar. Good organizational and administrative skills, understanding of the Swedish Church's mission and values. Education in landscape management, environmental administration, horticulture, or similar, or through extensive experience. Knowledge of burial services regulations. Service orientation and responsiveness to parishioners and staff. B-class driver's license (as the position involves considerable travel). Experience in burial services or green space management is desirable, but we place significant emphasis on personal suitability. Work Tasks Plan, lead, and develop work within the organization. Personnel responsibility including providing daily support to all staff. Drive and support rehabilitation efforts. Conduct employee and salary reviews, establish development and training plans for staff. Recruit new personnel, manage budgets and finances, plan and oversee operations. Procurement and coordination of contractors, maintenance, machinery, and vehicles. Liaison with relevant authorities, contractors, and the public. Monitor and ensure a safe work environment for all staff. Participate in the management group with the safety representative to drive systematic work environment initiatives.
