About the Workplace Ale Municipality is an expanding municipality in the Gothenburg region where a recently adopted vision and values are to lead the municipality into the future. The Social Services Department is one of four departments that, together with the Municipal Administration Department, constitute the service organization in Ale Municipality with approximately 125 managers and 2,500 employees. The cross-organizational management group consists of the Municipal Manager, four Department Directors, and four Section Heads. The Social Services Director, together with five Operations Managers, makes up the department's leadership. In total, social services consists of approximately 850 employees within elderly care, municipal health and medical care, support services for people with disabilities, and individual and family services. The department has an annual budget of approximately 750 mkr. Job Responsibilities The Department Director is an important actor in cross-organizational leadership, governance, and development. Responsibility for operations, budget, and the employer role form the foundation of daily tasks. As the ultimately responsible official and mandate holder before the board, you ensure that the board is informed about the content and development of operations and the employer assignment, and that matters are prepared according to the principles of good administration—legality, objectivity, and proportionality. Qualifications The role requires an academic degree, at least a bachelor's degree, with a focus on the business area that the employer deems relevant. You must have several years of experience as a manager of managers and from working in a politically governed organization. You need to be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have good digital understanding. We would appreciate if you have further education in social work, law, and/or management and governance. You have documented experience leading leaders, operational development, and achieving measurable improvements in work environment, employee engagement, sick leave, and staff turnover. You need to have a holistic perspective based on the municipal organization and society, great personal maturity, and well-developed judgment. Additionally, a strong ability to collaborate. You are strategic and innovative, and always keep residents, business, and visitors in focus. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
