Gothenburg, Linköping, and Lund are part of Region South, while Stockholm and Umeå are part of Region North. The main office with all support functions is located in Stockholm. We are seeking An experienced, skilled lawyer with broad expertise who wants to work close to operations and provide qualified legal support on issues important to the agency's mission and development. With us, you will have a central role where you guide managers and investigators in complex and principled matters that contribute to well-founded decisions. The Workplace The position is located in Umeå and is part of the regional management team. Work is conducted in close collaboration with other regional lawyers as well as with other lawyers, unit managers, and investigators at the School Inspectorate. You report to the Deputy Regional Manager but also work closely with the Regional Manager, with responsibility for preparing principled cases and sanction cases before decisions are made. Region North has nine units with approximately 150 employees, of which approximately 100 are in Stockholm. The region shares premises with the main office and is centrally located in Stockholm. We have an activity-based office, and the possibility to enter into agreements for remote work exists. Job Responsibilities An important part of the assignment is translating legal knowledge into practical support for regional management, unit managers, and investigators. You follow developments in the legal field, inform about new legislation and case law, and contribute to raising legal expertise within the region. You thereby become a key person for both legal application and knowledge development within the agency. As a regional lawyer in Region North, you work in a support function primarily handling matters within school law but also other legislation within administrative law. You will have the opportunity to influence legal application at the agency. By supporting operations in principled and guiding matters, you contribute to lawful decisions, develop the agency's practice, and ensure consistent application of regulations. This role gives you a unique opportunity to combine qualified legal work with a concrete contribution to the School Inspectorate's important societal mission. Qualifications You must have: A law degree and notarial certification or equivalent Several years of current experience in qualified legal work in a consultative role, for example at a government agency's legal department, court, law firm, or similar It is beneficial if you have: Current experience and knowledge of school law Experience in supervisory activities Experience working in appellate courts To succeed in this role, you need to be independent, confident in your professional role, and have good self-awareness. You have the ability to quickly identify and analyze the core legal issue and a good ability to make relevant limitations and prioritizations. You are pragmatic, solution-oriented, operationally focused, and confident in your own assessments, with trust in others' professional responsibility and expertise. You have excellent ability to express yourself clearly, accessibly, and correctly in both speech and writing. You can convey legal positions to others in a pedagogical manner. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. About the Position The position is permanent. The School Inspectorate applies a 6-month probationary period. The position is full-time.
