We are looking for someone who wants to help continue developing student wellness at Västra Hamnens School in Malmö. Our current school counselor is moving on to another position, and we are now seeking a successor.
As a school counselor at Västra Hamnens School, you will be part of the school's student wellness team, which works together with school leadership to promote health, provide preventive care, and implement interventions for our students. You will provide support to individual students and primarily meet with students in larger groups for supportive and guidance conversations, values-based work, and promoting attendance, among other things. In your work, you will collaborate with external agencies such as BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry), Social Services, and police. The work includes collaboration with different parts of our student wellness team and the school's other staff; good collaboration skills are an important prerequisite for success in this role. You will be part of a large student wellness team at the school. The role requires strong self-leadership in your assignment and daily work.
Qualifications
You hold a degree in social work (socionom) and have at least two years of experience working with children and young people. We would appreciate it if you have experience working as a school counselor.
You have good knowledge of the school's goals and governing documents, knowledge of other government departments and, for example, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), as well as knowledge of practices and guidelines in this field.
As a person, you find it easy to build relationships, can lead yourself in your role, and collaborate well with others. The work can be intensive during certain periods, which places demands on stress resilience.

About the Workplace
Västra Hamnens School, located near Turning Torso and Varvsparken, opened in August 2010 and currently has 365 students in grades 4-6, along with an after-school program. Our sports hall is located approximately 500 m from the school and is called Stapelbäddshallen. Our staff have high levels of qualifications and competence. We have high expectations of each other, and students are highly motivated, which is reflected in strong academic results. For the past couple of years, we have focused on reading and language development across all subjects and on creating an accessible learning environment through classroom structure work to further improve the quality of instruction.
