Do you want to work close to people and make a difference in the everyday life of someone whose world has changed due to a vision impairment? Our curator is retiring and we are looking for an engaged, confident, and development-oriented colleague for the unit. Job Responsibilities As a curator at the Vision Unit, you will have an important role in helping people find ways forward when life's circumstances change. You will meet patients with significant and permanent vision impairment or blindness, of all ages and with different needs. We work with people with significant vision impairment or blindness from a life perspective. You will join a stable, competent, and interprofessional team with optometrists, occupational therapists, a psychologist, physical therapist, and IT educator. Your job responsibilities include mapping the patient's situation, identifying strengths and difficulties, and assessing the need for support and interventions. The purpose of the interventions is to contribute to a functioning everyday life with increased participation and good quality of life. Common tasks include introductory conversations, follow-up conversations, supportive conversations, and assistance with government agency contacts. Depending on needs, you may also lead groups and conduct training. Most often you will meet patients during office visits (in Västerås, Köping, or Fagersta), but interventions can also be provided as phone or digital visits. You will also assist with curator expertise in the region's team for people who are deafblind, a collaboration we have with the hearing unit. We have close and good collaboration at the Vision Unit and work together to provide support and interventions that can facilitate the person's daily life.
