Warm welcome to Gärdsåsskolan F-9! We are now seeking a full-time school counselor (100%) to begin in fall term 2026. About the School Gärdsåsskolan will become an F-9 school (preschool through grade 9) as of fall term 2026 and will also include adapted elementary school for grades 7-9. The school has capacity for approximately 660 students and is located at Kortedala torg. There are excellent transportation connections. We also work to strengthen students' social competence, creativity, and sense of responsibility – important qualities both in school and in life. Job Responsibilities As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's student welfare team and contribute psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student welfare, you will collaborate with the school nurse, special education teacher, psychologist, school physician, and principal. The team's mission is to work together with the principal and teaching staff to promote health and prevent problems in order to strengthen children and young people's opportunities to achieve their goals. Your responsibilities will include, for example, participating in the school's ongoing values and safety work, providing support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and conducting group/class interventions. You will also conduct school social assessments and evaluations before admission to adapted elementary school, as well as investigations of student absences. Additionally, you will collaborate with external actors such as social services, rehabilitation services, UPH, and child/adolescent psychiatric services. Within the elementary school administration, you will attend professional meetings once a month with fellow counselors and professional development specialists, and participate in external supervision. As a new school counselor, you will also receive an introduction and a mentor. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent higher education that the employer considers relevant. We view experience working as a school counselor and experience working with children and young people as meriting. We would also like to see experience documenting in PMO. You also prioritize your efforts together with the principal and other student welfare staff. You enjoy working with complex issues, see possibilities, and are creative.
